Wil knows firsthand the power of great web PR, and also the drawbacks of a web presence that is lacking. In 2001 Wil signed a recording contract with Warner Bros Records. A major label record deal is what most musicians dream of, but Wil soon discovered that signing the deal was only the very first step of the journey. More than a year later, the deal had fallen apart and Wil was left scratching his head wondering what exactly had gone wrong.
In reviewing what had and hadn't worked, Wil began to realize that his web PR had been woefully lacking. The label had been looking for an organized effort online, consistent communication with fans, and a business presence in place online that would grow over time organically. When this didn't happen, the label got cold feet, and the rest is a story not uncommon to artists and other independent business owners in the internet age. As the managing director in charge of delivery and customer service, Wil brings the same level of passion and idealism to his work as he does to his music. "Helping businesses and entrepreneurs control the story that is told about them online is a genuine pleasure for me," says Wil. |
